Samsung’s priorities for CES 2023 – Samsung Newsroom Belgium

We live in a complex and ever-changing world.
We have to find our way in places we are not familiar with: from new technologies to markets and consumers. In doing so, we still have to face the challenges of the pandemic and the many uncertainties in the global economy.

Thus, the “environment” and the “experience” of our way of life have become very important in recent times. This is why we are also contributing to creating a sustainable future.

As a world leader in consumer electronics and information and communication technology (ICT), I believe that Samsung Electronics has a responsibility to create an environmentally friendly value chain. A goal we want to achieve by implementing innovative technologies and launching sustainable products whose usefulness is essential for our society. With this, we also aim to give every consumer a better experience when using our products.

In January, at CES 2023, Samsung will present its plans for sustainable innovations as part of the “Bringing Calm

to Our Connected World”, where we will take the public on our journey to a prosperous and more sustainable future.

SmartThings: Experiences evolve, hyperconnected, invisible and very present.

At CES 2023, Samsung will present a new, expanded SmartThings experience that further integrates your home ecosystem, with an infrastructure supported by improved security.

We’re also exploring easier and safer ways to connect our devices and devices, as well as new ways to make each user’s experience more accurate through artificial intelligence (AI).

We work closely with our various partners to optimize the SmartThings experience for our users. We want to be able to offer them personalized experiences based on their personal preferences and lifestyle.

A sustainable future in the age of hyperconnection

To improve and facilitate our daily lives, we have paid attention to the problems and difficulties we face through the use of technology. At the same time, we are constantly looking for ways to contribute to a better future by developing more sustainable products using innovative technologies.

After announcing our new sustainability strategy in September, we refined our plans to overcome the climate crisis through our innovative technologies. Our goal is to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050.

To achieve this, we have incorporated these advanced technologies, such as ultra-low-power semiconductors and low-power products, into our plan. The energy savings achieved through SmartThings and the development of innovative products that respect the environment more are indicators of our ability to pursue these plans for the future.

We are also actively engaged in various environmental and social efforts. To do this, we establish partnerships with various international organizations, industries and involved citizens.

Additionally, we have joined the steering committee of the Asia Clean Energy Coalition (ACEC) to work with major international companies and NGOs to expand renewable energy supply in key Asian development centers.

We have also been a member of the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC) since the UN climate conference COP27 last November. Through this organization, we want to develop and implement plans to reduce the overall greenhouse gas emissions of the semiconductor industry. We also want to create eco-friendly ecosystems by setting a carbon reduction target, developing technologies that help reduce greenhouse gases and supporting green technology startups.

When developing new technology for users, we always ask ourselves “what should we do?” instead of “what can we do?”. Technology has the power to change the way people see and interact with the world, and to improve our daily lives.

At CES 2023, we will demonstrate how our sustainability efforts extend beyond our products, which are built with our innovative technologies.
