Game News Dragon Ball, One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen… Anime games to watch in 2023

While anime fans are spoiled for choice in 2022, next year will also bring many new things and surprises in terms of video game adaptations of their favorite works. To find your way through all these releases, we offer you a small selection of titles from the anime coming in 2023.

  • One Piece Odyssey
  • Digital Version of Dragon Ball Super Card Game
  • Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade
  • Black Clover: Rise of the Wizard King
  • Solo Leveling: Get up
  • Games that could be released in 2023

One Piece Odyssey

The year 2023 starts off with a bang with the January release of One Piece Odyssey, an original adventure in the universe created by Eiichiro Oda. We find Luffy and his crew landing on a mysterious island and meeting new characters, drawn by the author himself. After losing their powers following a series of events, they will need to regain them by exploring this unknown land. But in their wanderings, they will also have to dig into their memories and rediscover regions known to manga fans. In terms of gameplay, we are in front of a role-playing game with a turn-based battle where we can switch from one member of the Mugiwaras to another, just to exploit the weak points of your enemies. Therefore, an original adventure, but still retains the appearance of fan-service by making us regurgitate cult passages from manga and anime.

Digital Version of Dragon Ball Super Card Game

Published in 2008 and relaunched in 2017, the Dragon Ball card game is back, but this time as a video game. Titled Dragon Ball Super Card Game Digital Version, the interest of this digital version is to enjoy the in-game animations. This is what we saw in the first trailer to announce the existence of the project, where we see Goku doing a Kamehameha. It remains to be seen in what kind of situations this kind of animation will be triggered, if it is in battle or when you open a booster for example. And for those with physics cards, we also wonder if they can use them in this version. Many questions still surround this project, but we should learn more on March 4 and 5 at the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2023, an event dedicated to video games from the Dragon Ball universe as its name suggests.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade

Due to the popularity of the first season of the anime, it was obvious that Jujutsu Kaisen would get a video game. For its first adaptation, Gege Akutami’s manga is available on mobile free-to-play for iOS and Android in the form of a role-playing game with turn-based combat titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade. Due to the nature of the title, we can expect that we will have a gacha, that is, an experience that includes a component of randomness in obtaining certain elements such as characters or equipment. From the little we have seen of the project, we already know that it benefits from an animated introduction by the Mappa studio that took care of the anime and the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0. On the side of the script, because yes there is one, we should meet new characters never seen in the manga who come from a school of exorcism we don’t know yet. An awesome project that should be released next year in Japan, will definitely be later here unfortunately.

Black Clover: Rise of the Wizard King

Set for release in 2023 worldwide, Black Clover: Rise of the Wizard King is a mobile free-to-play inspired by the manga of the same name. Its particularity is that it was not developed by a Japanese publisher like Bandai Namco, but instead by a Korean company, Pearl Abyss, which we know for the MMORPG Black Desert. More specifically, it is the small Vic Game studio that will manage the transformation of Yuki Tabata’s universe into a video game. From what we’ve seen from videos from the beta, it will be a role-playing game with turn-based combat with characters deployed on the ground with several skills. Between these fights, we are entitled to well-crafted cutscenes that allow us to relive the events of the anime, but we can also walk around a 3D world through Asta control. A project that promises to be ambitious.

  • Release Date : First half of 2023 worldwide
  • Platforms: iOS and Android

Solo Leveling: Get up

We end this list by cheating a little by talking about a Manwha, a Korean manga, that won’t be adapted into an anime until next year. So, Solo Leveling: Arise is a free game planned for mobile, but also for PC, which this time has the originality of an action role-playing game. A little surprising information when we found out that the source of the project is Netmarble, a Korean developer and publisher we know for games like The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, Marvel Future Revolution or Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds. From what we’ve seen from the beta videos, this is another project that looks ambitious, with gameplay close to the typical hack’n’slash of Netmarble that knows about it. If the title is scheduled for 2023 in Korea and we hope that it will also reach us quickly.
