Happy new year everyone. To celebrate this new year, we have compiled for you the 20 most anticipated horror films of this year 2023. As always, we will be shivering in dark rooms. Whether it’s Blum House productions, sequels to well-known licenses or independent films, horror cinema will be destroyed this year. That is why we have selected 20 horror films that should not be missed this year 2023.
Terrify 2 (January 11, 2023)
After a first part released in 2016film maker Damien Leone returns to tell the sequel to the terrifying adventures of clowning is art. After the first film that pretty much passed under the radar, this second part should have more of an impact on the general public thanks to a theatrical release. The story tells how Art the clown is resurrected by a demonic creature. The evil clown returns to his hometown where he decides to target a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night.
Knock on the Cabin (February 1, 2023)
Then The Village, The Visit and old, director M. Night Shyamalan is once again returning to horror cinema with Knock on the Cabin. Starring Dave Bautista and Rupert Grint, the feature film will tell how a girl and her parents are held hostage in an isolated chalet on their vacation by four armed strangers. The latter asks them impossible choices to avoid a possible impending apocalypse.
Scream 6 (March 8, 2023)
Then scream, released last yearMatt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet (who also directed Wedding Nightmare) is back with Shout 6. In the first instance of the license, Shout 6 will take its viewers outside of Woodsboro. This time, Ghostface leaves his town to terrorize the few survivors from the previous chapter. After the success of the previous part (more than 140 million dollars in revenue) License Scream is well and truly resurrected!
Crazy Bear (March 15, 2023)
In the direction of the actress Elizabeth Banks (Charlie’s angels), crazy bear is (very) freely inspired by a true story. In fact, in 1985, a plane crashed in the American state of Georgia. The device contained a large amount of cocaine. A passing bear ate some of them, so it became very aggressive. The film obviously takes enormous liberties with this initial premise to offer a bloody safety where many characters will meet facing a poisonous and very violent bear. To notice that crazy bear can score the last posthumous appearance of the late Ray Liotta.
Evil Dead Rise (April 19, 2023)
After Sam Raimi’s original trilogyThe remake of Fede Alvarez in 2013 and the series Ash vs Evil Dead, the universe created by Sam Raimi returns this year to the cinema. Realized by Lee Cronin, this new film will offer a free remake of Sam Raimi’s classic. This time, the plot will focus on two brothers whose reunion is interrupted by the appearance of aggressive demons.
The Pope’s Exorcist (May 10, 2023)
Then lord, film maker Julius Avery is back to horror with Exorcist of the Pope. Taken by Russell Crowe (unaccustomed to horror films), the feature film revisits the exploits of Father Gabriele Amorth, an Italian priest exorcist chief of the Vatican. He did more than 100,000 exorcisms for the Church until his death in 2016. William Friedkin, the director of the first The Exorcisteven devoted a documentary to him in 2017 titled The Devil and Father Amorth.
Renfield (May 31, 2023)
Described as a horror comedythis production is produced by Chris McKay (The Open War) will register to universal studio monster movie. The story will follow RM Renfield, an inmate of an insane asylum, who eventually becomes a servant of Dracula. Loosely based on the novel by Bram Stockerthe feature film will take place today with a particular cast consisting of Ben Schwartz, Awkwafina, Nicholas Hoult and Nicolas Cage as Dracula.
Insidious 5 (July 5, 2023)
After failures Fraudulent 3 and Insidious: The Last Key, Patrick Wilson, who played Josh Lambert in the first two parts, returns. In addition, this time he also takes care of the presentation this fifth stage. The Nun 2 is ninth film in the Conjuring Universe. It is made by Michael Chaves which has already been staged The Curse of the White Lady and Conjuring 3: In the grip of the Devil.
The Exorcist – Sequel Trilogy Part 1 (October 11, 2023)
After rebooting the license Halloween in recent years, the filmmaker David Gordon Green discusses another iconic saga of horror cinema: The Exorcist. As in halloween, the director will propose a trilogy that takes place directly after the events of the very first film directed by William Friedkin in 1974.
Saw 10 (October 25, 2023)
After two parentheses Raised by Jigsaw and Spiral: The Legacy of Saw, the popular gore license returns to its basics. Realized by Kevin Greutert (Saw 6, Saw 3D), Seen 10 will therefore continue the license initiated by James Wan in 2004. Jigsaw is back to play dirty tricks!
