During CES 2023, the giant Sony unveiled its next high-tech products. Held last night, the conference will be reviewed on video, below. Among the products presented was, of course, the popular Playstation VR 2 (PS VR2), which will be available in a few weeks for the next generation console, the PS5. Kenichiro Yoshida, Director and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, spoke before the opening of Sony’s booth.

I StarSphere
STAR SPHERE is a project that aims to familiarize us with space and introduce us to “space perspectives” to offer a new perspective on environmental and social issues on a planetary scale. Sony will present the “Space Shooting Lab”, an experimental simulator that offers “space” for experiential space photography that STAR SPHERE plans to offer soon, and a model of a nanosatellite equipped by Sony camera.
I Technologies for creators
Sony supports a wide range of production activities to connect diverse communities, from leading creators to their budding successors. This stand presents a wide range of imaging solutions, such as digital cinema cameras such as VENICE 2the Alpha™ series of full-frame mirrorless cameras, the VLOGCAMthe professional drone Airpeaksmartphones Xperia™ and the furniture Creators’ Cloud, a cloud-based multimedia production platform. I Contacting the Virtual Supporter
Sony is conducting a PoC (Proof of Concept) with Manchester City, the English Premier League football club, which aims to create the next generation of online fan communities and interactions through a combination of physical and virtual to inspire and excite fans of all sports. At the stand, visitors can experience Metaverse content and teleport to a virtual version of the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City’s home stadium. To express their passion, supporters can create and personalize their own avatars on their smartphone and, in the future, will be able to connect with millions of supporters around the world. I New fan experiences created from live sports data
During CES, initiatives to provide fans with new data-driven experiences will also be showcased. All this while showing visitors the journey of sports data, from its capture on the field to its distribution on various platforms for supporters, including the creation of virtual content in real time. Through several technologies such as Hawk-Eye Innovations (“Hawk-Eye”), Beyond Sports and Pulselive, all Sony group companies that will demonstrate the ability of brand sports businesses to radically change the way of acquisition , viewing, providing and creating interactive live action data for fans.
I Portable volumetric capture
The presentation included a prototype of a new system capable of capturing and delivering 3D animated reconstructions of people, objects and spaces with low latency to any location. The system requires only seven sensors, which allows it to be installed anywhere quickly, and meet the need of live 3D video distribution. The stand allows visitors to enjoy a 360-degree view of Manchester City players and fans displayed in a 3D metaverse space, using tablets and a Sony Spatial Reality Display.
I Spatial Reality Display: new prototype with a large 27-inch screen
Sony unveiled a 27-inch prototype Spatial Reality Display (SR Display) that reproduces the real world using 3D spatial images. The large screen format allows the display of life-sized objects: medical images and product designs can be reproduced more realistically. At the booth, SR Display will be used to display 3D computer graphics content with applications in various fields, such as point cloud data used in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), as well as architecture and computer-aided design. (CAD), in a virtual space. In addition, multi-view videos created by live sports data and virtual Hawk-Eye characters can now be reproduced on the SR Display to provide a new mode of entertainment.
I Preview powered by “mocopi”
The preview technology will be shown using Sony’s “mocopi” mobile motion capture system, which allows creators to check their camera work and character positions with VFX editing[1] in preproduction. A computer graphic model is shown on the display monitor, which is synchronized in real time with the movement of a model in action wearing a “mocopi” device. This technology helps streamline the workflow to allow creators to simulate production at an early stage and thereby improve the quality of their work.
I PlayStation®VR2 and PlayStation®5
Sony introduces PlayStation®VR2 (PS VR2), the next-generation virtual reality headset for PlayStation®5 (PS5™) that delivers an entirely new immersive gaming experience. Some of the key features of PS VR2 are achieved through PlayStation VR2 Sense™ technology, such as headset vibration, 3D audio technology and Eye Tracking, all combined with touch detection, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of PS VR2 Sense ™ controllers. Select PS VR2 and PS5™ games will be available for testing, with PS5™ accessories on display at the booth.
I Sony Honda Mobility
A new prototype Sony Honda Mobility vehicle will also be on display, whose aim is to “transport people, through innovation fueled by various sources of inspiration”.
