BEST VEHICLES IN CANADA IN 2023 ANNOUNCED IN 12 CATEGORIES BY AUTOMOBILE JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION OF CANADA
Racing category winners for Canadian Car of the Year and Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year announced at the Montreal International Auto Show
TORONTO, Jan 19, 2023 /CNW/ – The Automotive Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) today announced the vehicles chosen by its members as the best of Canada for 2023 in each of 12 categories covering multiple segments including cars, commercial vehicles, vans and electric vehicles.
Following this announcement, 11 automakers are one step closer to the ultimate award, which is Canadian Car of the Year. 2023 and Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year 2023.
Hyundai is the only automaker to win two categories this year, with the Elantra N and Ioniq 5 representing two strong offerings, the former with an internal combustion engine and the latter with an electric drivetrain. The Kia Telluride won its category for the third time, as did the Mazda3. Genesis is no stranger to Canadian Car of the Year awards, winning three awards in this category last year. This year, along with the G90, four Genesis models have won their respective categories in the past two years.
More than 250 vehicles are eligible for review and voting for this year’s awards, including all vehicles for sale: Newly designed, freshly refreshed and carryover vehicles from the previous year are all eligible after receiving a minimum number of ballots submitted by AJAC journalists. Voting data is collected from expert judges based in Vancouver in Halifaxwhich tests each vehicle on the same roads and under the same conditions that Canadian drivers face every day from coast to coast.
“AJAC journalists submitted more than 1,700 ballots based on real-world testing and produced the list of winners presented today in conjunction with the Montreal International Auto Show,” said Michel. Crépault, president of AJAC. “In producing these results, our member journalists have shown great dedication to their craft, informing Canadian drivers of vehicles to consider for purchase in 2023.”
These 12 vehicles are now eligible to be named Canadian Car of the Year 2023 or Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year 2023. These awards will be presented at the International Auto Show in Canada in TorontoThursday, February 16, 2023.
