You know Bioshock right? The FPS license marked the spirits in particular thanks to its first opus as intriguing as it was moving and then declined with several sequels, including the famous Bioshock Infinite. The title brought changes to the franchise, especially in terms of artistic direction. For us, it was a risky but successful bet as it was one of those rare games that scored 19 out of 20 of us. But what does it say then? Goodbye Rapture and hello Columbia. Booker DeWitt, hitman, is on board this celestial island with a very specific mission: to rescue Elisabeth, imprisoned since childhood by the supreme leader of Columbia. Why was he imprisoned and why is it up to you to free him? What mysteries hide this extraordinary city? To find out, just pay €7.49 on Steam.
We continue with another great video game license: Borderlands. The latest installment of the license, Borderlands 3, is currentavailable for 8.99€ instead of €59.99, i.e. an 85% promotion. If you’ve never gotten your hands on a licensed game, this is the perfect opportunity to try it out. As a reminder, Borderlands is a goofy and completely insane first-person shooter-looter series. In this third opus, you face the evil Calypso twins who seek to enslave all bandits and rule the world, or whatever is left of it. Note that the latest version of the game is also on sale (-71%) and will allow you to enjoy, in addition to the base game, the 6 DLCs that come with it. Other games of the franchise (Borderlands 2, Tiny Tina’s Wonderland…) are also available for a lower price.
New game, new video game monster with Civilization VI, the latest opus of the hugely popular strategy game license. Do we really need to show the Civilization license? A true reference in the field of 4X, it has made a name for itself even with neophytes. The goal is to manage his civilization and his empire over the centuries, be it economic, cultural or military. For Steam sales, the game, which still scored a good 17 out of 20 among us, is at a ridiculous price: 5,99€. You can also treat yourself to a bundle with different DLC for €29.62 and €15. So this is the chance to finally try this great license, even if you are not familiar with the genre.
We’re changing the register with a game focused on narrative above all else. This is one of the little gems of the French studio Quantic Dream. As you probably know, his specialty is rather narrative games. You surely know Detroit: Become Human, which was a huge hit the year it was released (2018). But do you know the older Quantic Dream titles, like Heavy Rain? A true classic of the French studio, the title marked many minds. The pitch? A serial killer stalks a town on the east coast of the United States. We call him “origami killer”. Your goal? Unmask him before he kills his next victim. And to do this, you will follow the adventures of four characters: Ethan Mars, father of the child kidnapped by the killer; Madison Pagie, journalist; Norman Jayden, FBI profiler, and Scoot Shelby, private detective. The title is currently available for €9.95 on Steam.
Looking forward to GTA 6? Why not turn to one of the many GTA-Likes, such as the Mafia license? Better yet, why not treat yourself to one of his games without spending too much? Leaving? Well Steam sales has answered your call by offering Mafia: Definitive Edition for €13.99 instead of €39.99. Don’t panic, this isn’t the 2002 game, which of course has aged quite a bit. The Definitive Edition is actually a remake released in 2020. As its name suggests, it takes us to the heart of the underworld. You are in 1930s America and you play as a young taxi driver who becomes an important pawn in the mafia. Unrivaled atmosphere, redesigned gameplay, impeccable writing… Mafia: Definitive Edition fully deserves its 17 out of 20.
Because there’s something for everyone, let us offer you some beetle-friendly beat’em in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. As you can imagine if the name Scott Pilgrim is unfamiliar to you, it is an adaptation of the comics of the same name, released at the same time as another adaptation but in the cinema. Unsurprisingly, it took over the characters and the comic book universe. The developers at Ubisoft Montreal brought this world to life, especially thanks to the invaluable help of Paul Robertson (animator and graphic designer) and the Anamanaguchi group that took care of the game’s soundtrack. There’s still time to experience this 2010 classic through the Complete Edition, released later and including all the extra content. It is this edition that has collected a good record of 16 out of 20 of us. And it is currently available for €4.95 on Steam.
You’ll get a small dose of indie games with this selection, right? So here comes Skul: The Hero Slayer, an action-packed 2D platformer with rogue-like mechanics. As a lone skeleton, you must face the Imperial army and allow the Demon King to reclaim the throne. To accomplish this mission, Skul (that’s his name) can rely on a rather special ability: he is able to change skills depending on the skull he wears. With its relatively 80 on Metacritic, Skul: The Hero Slayer is a little nugget not to be missed, especially at such a low price. On the occasion of the Steam sale, the game from SouthPAW Games and NEOWIZ is only at €8.39 (instead of €16.79).
Right now, Ubisoft is in bad shape, admittedly. But nevertheless, in the last few years, the French studio has given us many reasons to be proud of some very good titles. In addition to Assassin’s Creed, this is also the case for Tom Clancy-branded titles, such as The Division. If the free game franchise, Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland, is about to offer us, it is now possible to taste it by surrendering for The Division 2, which is available. at 9€ during the Steam sale. In the middle of a Washington DC ravaged by a pandemic, your mission is to preserve the fate of the free world. Between RPG and FPS, the game received quite positive feedback and an excellent 17 out of 20 from us. This expensive 87 qualifies it as a “real achievement”, certainly lacking in novelty but offering “a varied, pleasant and dense content”.
We pass on a classic that will definitely not speak to everyone. Trine is a platform game license between action and reflection, developed by the Finns at Frozenbyte. Small twist: you must alternate between three characters (Knight, Thief and Magician) all joined by Trine. But it’s mostly its graphics and atmosphere that will excite critics. As a result, the first game quickly offered a sequel, then another and another. In total, the Trine saga will offer us four opus, all very well received. And if you missed out, it’s time to make up for it with Steam sales. just for €17.36 (compared to €86.96 during normal hours), you can gain access to not one, but all four games in the franchise through Trine: Ultimate Collection. And if you prefer to try your hand at just one of the titles, know that they are also on sale and all are available for less than 10 euros.
We end up in a niche genre but recently opened up to a wider audience by tackling a very popular license: Marvel superheroes. The game we’re talking about is obviously Midnight Suns, also developed by the same studio that set up the license we’re interested in today, namely XCOM. If you like its XCOM-Like gameplay and want to take it to the next level, it might be time to try your hand at XCOM 2. If we tell you that, you might think, it’s because the game has the right which is a great promotion during the Steam sale. It is really useful for just €4.99 to purchase (instead of €49.99). In the sequel, aliens have taken over the world and are ruling it tyrannically. But XCOM isn’t dead, not yet. Some survivors were still there to organize the response. In this strategy game, your goal is to drive out the aliens and destroy them once and for all. The full benefits from a particularly solid gameplay that allowed the title to collect a wonderful 18 out of 20 from us.
