The long-awaited conference at the beginning of the year is here, and as promised, it allows us to discover more about the eighth installment of the Forza Motorsport saga that will be called Forza Motorsport. Yes, as announced a few months ago, the saga decided to continue the series from the beginning to also welcome newcomers and make a wonderful return to basics.

Gameplay for Forza Motorsport! That’s awesome

Chris Esaki, the creator of Forza Motorsport himself, gets the ball rolling! He announced that from the very beginning we will tackle the “most technically advanced” racing game. And in view of some extracts, we are ready to take his word for it.

The vehicles will certainly be plentiful, but we have also improved their appearance with the help of a spectrophotometer, which records many data points on a surface to analyze how light behaves on it. Thanks to this new technique, our models respond to light in a more realistic way, whether it’s colors, shine in metallic levels or shine. Damage and dust on cars is calculated based on context in a real way and it is different for each car, for example dust will accumulate more in certain corners and in alcoves. In the few excerpts that were broadcast, the game was impressive and more selective. After announcing that there will be a total 500 vehicles to drive and over 800 unique upgrades for the cars, Gabriel Garcia, the artistic director of the cars returned to new things.

We learned in particular that the ray-tracing will be more impressive than ever and the physics engine will be very powerful. It looks more powerful than Forza Motorsport 5, 6 and 7 combined, that’s all. Other new things, damage and dirt will be highlighted this time.

Damage and dirt are different. They are contextualized and localized. It simulates the thickness, sheen and direction of the paint. Dirt build-up is more realistic, especially in low pressure areas like reinforcements and alcoves. These innovations tell the story of your racing performance. No release date yet!

If we were expecting this new conference to offer a release date, unfortunately, know that this is not the case. But to be forgiven, the creators and creators of Forza Motorsport revealed the number of environments we can go through… And there are many.

Forza Motorsport will feature 20 launch environments and plenty of tracks to master. In addition to fan favorite tracks, you can get behind the wheel to explore new locations in the series, including our very first set in South Africa: Kyalami. The level of precision possible thanks to photogrammetry and images scanned by laser makes it possible to obtain details 10 times more realistic, especially for plants. With our state-of-the-art graphics, which allow us, for example, to show thousands of spectators fully animated in 3D, you will be completely immersed in the spectacle of motor racing. Turn 10

Finally, note that the game will feature dynamic weather and a day/night cycle. In other words, we can start a race that takes place at the end of the day and finish it in the middle of the night. Good news, especially since it has a good chance of further sublimating the contributions of ray-tracing.

As a reminder, Forza Motorsport will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC (Microsoft Store and Steam), as well as Xbox Game Pass.
