DS. How much has the price of the models increased since 2020?
DS 3 and DS 7 Crossback (named DS 3 and DS 7), DS 4 and DS 9: models in the DS Automobiles range have increased their prices in the last two years. A trend followed by all manufacturers. In some cases, the increase even exceeds 20% compared to the launch price.

DS 3 Crossback, DS 7 Crossback, DS 4… all models in the range have increased by several thousand euros in the last two years.
The argument
DS Automobiles is not immune to inflation. The price increase is less marked than Peugeot, but it is real. This is particularly the case for the brand’s best-seller: the DS 7 Crossback, some versions of the BlueHDi 130 diesel rising by more than €3,000 between December 2020 and July 2022. And that’s before the arrival of the restyle DS 7 at the beginning of the school year. Certainly the vehicle is better equipped, but this is done at the expense of an invoice that is still increased by several thousand euros in some finishes.

The argument
We are talking about the DS 7, but the DS 4 is also a good example. Since the opening of orders in May 2021, it has seen its prices rise, mainly in the petrol versions (PureTech) and plug-in hybrids (E-Tense). The small DS 3 Crossback SUV and the large DS 9 sedan are also affected.
DS 3 Crossback then DS 3
When it was launched in 2018, the DS 3 Crossback made an impression with its high prices. In retrospect, they are quite affordable compared to today: €27,100 for a DS 3 Crossback PureTech 100 So Chic in October 2018, €2,700 more in September 2022 for the equivalent version (PureTech 100 Bastille). On a DS 3 Crossback PureTech 130 Performance Line, the increase even exceeds €2,800 over the same period. The DS 3 Crossback E-Tense electric version is not missed, with an increase of €2,000 between 2020 and 2022 along with a reduction in the ecological bonus. If we look in detail, we see that the manufacturer has mainly raised its prices between 2021 and 2022.

We have less insight into this model since its recent launch (September 2021). This did not stop DS Automobiles from raising prices. The biggest upgrade is for the basic PureTech 130 Bastille version. The entry ticket went from 29,200 to 33,450 € in less than two years. That is an increase of almost 15%. The other petrol versions we compared fetched €2,550 and €2,750. And the DS 4 E-Tense 225 rechargeable hybrid version was not spared. It goes from €40,900 in the Performance Line in the first half of 2021 to €43,700 at the end of 2022. The difference of €2,800 to which should be added a less generous ecological bonus (€2,000 until July 2021 , €1,000 in 2022 ). And if the price of the hybrid does not increase in 2023, the bonus is gone.
Versions | Launch price (2021) | 2022 | get up |
PureTech 130 Bastille | €29,200 | €33,450 | + €4,250 |

Comparing DS 7 Crossback prices in 2017 with last summer’s prices sends shivers down the spine. This is particularly the case with the BlueHDi 130 Performance Line diesel. This version costs €36,300 at launch in October 2017. In 2022, it exceeds €44,000. An additional cost of €8,000 that even reaches €10,000 this year with the launch of the revised DS 7. Overall, most versions go up to €3,200 on the diesel from 2020 and €2,700 on the plug-in hybrid. An E-Tense 300 Performance Line will be around €60,000 in the summer of 2022, compared to €57,000 at the end of 2020.

The big DS 9 sedan doesn’t fall through the cracks of inflation. Established for less than €48,000 at the end of 2020, first prize exceeds €64,000 in 2022. A very significant difference explained by the loss of the PureTech 225 petrol version. But the two rechargeable hybrid versions of 250 and 360 hp, available in the catalog, did not survive the re-evaluation of prices. Between December 2021 and September 2022, DS Automobiles increased the price by €6,100 on the 225 hp and by €8,450 on the 360 hp.
